In Ercopac, every story has a beginning, and it is a pleasure to introduce our founder and president, Manuel Grassi.
Q: How did the idea of Ercopac come about?
A: Ercopac is a reality born from a person who conducted months of study and evaluation and had the idea to group 5 people with 5 different and complementary characteristics for the constitution of the company. We were immediately thrilled by the idea, and from there everything started.
Q: What were the expectations and hopes when you started Ercopac? Which were your goals?
A: When we started with Ercopac, the expectation was to create a young company composed of a few people highly specialized in their role, to create a solid foundation on which the future growth of the company could be built. The main goal was to bring something new to the market to respond to the many requirements we were collecting from customers, and to date it seems that our mission is going in the right direction. We have always set out to be a company close to our customers and willing to create solutions designed for specific needs, providing assistance and a special attention that the market lacked.
Q: What was the most significant challenge you faced as a founding partner?
A: Surely the most significant challenge for me was the change of role from employee to entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur means constantly evolving day after day, and no longer thinking like a person who depends on others, but knowing that other people depend on you. This change has brought many responsibilities, but also many rewards, and although my role requires continuous adaptation and improvement, I can say that this challenge has been overcome.
Q: Tell us a bit about your background and what led you to fill your current role.
A: The most significant part of my background concerns the 16 years I spent in BEMA, under the management of my family. During these years I have had the opportunity to learn important lessons, I have acquired relevant skills in the field, and I have acquired business logics that to date, after having had other experiences outside the family, led me to possess the right characteristics to guide Ercopac.
Q: What do you think is the most exciting aspect of our industry or the work we do as a company?
A: In my opinion, the most exciting aspect of our job is to be a young and very dynamic company that tries to make room in a constantly evolving and highly competitive sector, and the fact that we have been accepted in the market for our professionalism and our technical skills shows how Ercopac is in line with the characteristics and expectations of the sector. Another aspect that I appreciate a lot of this job is the possibility to work closely with customers to develop tailor-made solutions and respond to different needs with the most appropriate solutions.
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work? How do you think you have integrated them into the company’s values?
A: In addition to being a founder of Ercopac, I am also a member of the family farm (Azienda Agricola G&G), and I devote a large part of my free time to manual work and farm management. This represents a very important aspect of my life, which I think fits perfectly with my job at Ercopac and fully represents my personality. In fact, manual labour and the farming world represent the attachment to my roots, to my family and to my history, while Ercopac’s innovation and technological advancement represent my commitment to always look towards the future and towards continuous improvement.
Q: Are there any personal or professional values that you consider particularly important in your career? How do you think you have integrated them into the company’s values?
A: The most important value for me is family, and as a consequence I consider all my employees as part of my family. I think that a fundamental aspect in the management of a company is the human aspect, and for this reason the creation of a relationship with all the people who work at Ercopac is an essential requirement for me. I also believe that enthusiasm and commitment are the two most important characteristics to cultivate in my employees and collaborators, because I am convinced that an informal environment in which one can joke and everyone help each other leads to the construction of an unbeatable team. I try every day to make Ercopac a relaxed workplace, open towards young people, new ideas and collaboration, always putting myself at the forefront of listening and guiding my employees in their every-day tasks.
Q: Is there a specific achievement or success in your career that you are particularly proud of?
A: The result I am most proud of is to have led Ercopac to where we are today together with my partners, and to have been able to bring with us 25 guys who all believe in the same goal. My team is what makes me proud every day, and it is my greatest success.
Q: What advice do you have for those interested in pursuing a career in your industry or within our company?
A: I think that in order to pursue a career like mine, one has to DREAM. This is all it takes to get started and pursue a project that you believe in every day. To those who want to join our family I would recommend to arm themselves with friendliness, desire to do new things, and big dreams!
Q: Is there anything else you would like to share with our audience about your role, your experiences or the company in general?
A: I would like to share one last thing with our customers: I would like to send a big THANK YOU to all my employees and collaborators, because they are the heart of Ercopac and the creators of all your beautiful technology.
